SAHA Appoints New Chief Operating Officer
Following a successful 15-year career at the San Antonio Housing Authority (SAHA), Brandee Perez, a San Antonio native, was appointed as Chief Operating Officer and will assume her new role today.
As the Chief Operating Officer for SAHA, Perez will oversee the Federal Housing Programs, the Community Development Initiatives Department and the Safety and Security Department. She previously served in several roles at the agency including Director of Federal Housing Programs most recently.
“I have lived in San Antonio my whole life, and I understand the housing needs of the city well, I embrace the agency’s mission to create dynamic communities where people thrive and look forward to continuing to advocate for affordable housing and provide the best services for our residents.” Perez said.
In her role as Director of Federal Housing Programs, Perez led the largest department of the largest housing authority in Texas, managing nearly 300 of the approximately 500 employees.
Perez has certifications in Housing Choice Voucher Executive Management, Public Housing Executive Management and is certified as a Housing Choice Voucher Financial Management Specialist. Since assuming the director role, Perez successfully merged the management of the public housing and the assisted housing programs and improved standard operating procedures for the programs.
Since leading the department, the wait time for individuals to receive affordable housing assistance has decreased.
As featured in the “Housing Futures” publication, Perez is considered an expert in the housing industry, leading the largest affordable housing programs in the city.
