A number of events were held during the early part of October to celebrate SAHA’s 75th Anniversary, and each one was a great success:
  • October 2 - National Night Out activities were held at every SAHA property. The residents at many of the properties prepared birthday cakes for the agency.
  • October 9 - A groundbreaking event was held at The Park at Sutton Oaks. A number of dignitaries were present, including State Representatives Ruth Jones McClendon and Jose Menendez, City Councilmember Ivy Taylor and Police Chief William McManus.
  • October 11- SAHA held its Anniversary Gala, with keynote speaker John Quiñones, honoring Rosie Castro, Congressman Charles Gonzalez, Secretary Henry Cisneros, Bill Greehey, William Sinkin and Evelyn King. Special thanks to all our sponsors, including Title Sponsors: The Greehey Family Foundation and NuStar Energy; Diamond Sponsor: Franklin Development; and Gold Sponsors: Escamilla, Poneck & Cruz, Fulbright & Jaworski, and the Herrera Law Firm. The sold-out event netted over $35,000 benefitting the Education Investment Foundation scholarship programs.
  • October 12 - SAHA held a news conference with Mayor Castro to unveil the agency’s new brand, and then hosted its annual employee recognition event, followed by the R.E.A.C.H. (perfect attendance and honor roll) awards and the Housing America Music Festival.
In January of this year, SAHA launched a community-wide strategic planning process called Plan. Build. Live. to host extensive conversations about the future of the Agency.  Residents, employees, community leaders, funders, partners, and the broader San Antonio community were engaged in developing a shared vision for the future and identifying goals and priorities that would help SAHA to achieve its vision for 2020.

The Strategic Plan reaffirms SAHA's core commitments to manage, maintain, improve and expand affordable housing. SAHA believes that housing is the stable foundation families need to focus on improving their earning potential.

SAHA looks forward to sharing the benefits of the accomplishments from the past 75 years, while builiding a solid platform for the next 75 years in a continuous effort to CREATE DYNAMIC COMMUNITIES WHERE PEOPLE THRIVE.
