SAHA initiates process to redevelop Sutton Homes
 |
| Concept Rendering |
SAHA continues to advance its goal to improve the quality of affordable housing with preliminary plans for the redevelopment of S.J. Sutton Homes. A 242-unit multi-family public housing development, it was originally constructed in 1952. SAHA hopes to update and transform this aging property into a more vibrant and sustainable community. To accomplish this objective, SAHA invited developers to submit proposals for redevelopment of the site. At a recent board meeting, SAHA commissioners authorized the agency to negotiate with Franklin Development. In the very early stages of planning, Franklin Development will first work to secure financing, while SAHA puts in place their own planning forecast for calendar year 2006 and 2007. This forecast will allow SAHA to plan and prepare applications necessary to acquire tax credits, submit paperwork to HUD and prepare for public comments and proposed relocation activities. Stay tuned for more.
