The Alazán-Apache Courts was the first public housing community constructed in the City of San Antonio. Built in 1939 as a family community, it consists of three phases, two of which, Alazán and Apache, are one- and two-story concrete buildings. The Apache portion of this community was refurbished between 1993 and 1997, and the third phase, known as Guadalupe Homes, was constructed in 2000 as an adjacent subdivision, consisting of 56 units, which include 43 two- and three- bedroom single family homes and 13 apartments. There are a total of 741 units located within these three subdivisions.
