An official with the San Antonio Housing Authority says all of the affected units at the Spring Hill Apartments now have a/c. Most of them were up and running yesterday. They made the final repair today. Video Link AUG 15 2012 KENS SAN ANTONIO GREEN SPACE GARDENS San Antonio Housing Authority partnered with Green Spaces Alliance of South Texas to install a 65-hundred square foot garden.... that's being called the "east side neighborhood garden.” It has raised beds for gardeners to grow a variety of fresh fruits and veggies. San Antonio Housing Authority provided the land for the garden. Video Link AUG 9, 2012 KSAT SAN ANTONIO SAHA’S SCHOLARSHIP BANQUET The San Antonio Housing Authority honored some of the younger residents with college scholarships tonight. Part of the 12th annual rising star scholarship events. 26 students whose families live in low-income housing were given scholarships. The scholarships are renewable if the student stays in college. The organization is not just about housing but also supporting and improving the lives of its resident family. Jonathan Perez was an intern with the San Antonio Housing Authority when he met an entertainment lawyer, who was impressed by Perez's songwriting talents. "I can't even be happy right now,” said Serina Martinez. Martinez, a single mom with two daughters said tiny little bed bugs have taken over her apartment. The U. S. Department of Education awarded 24-million dollars through the Promise Neighborhood Grant and another 30-million could be coming from the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Video link June 20 2012 - 10:35 PM KSAT SAN ANTONIO PROMISE NEIGHORHOOD GRANT A new promise could bring a significant amount of money to San Antonio’s east side. The east side Promised Neighborhood Grant will bring $24 million in development to the area. Today the San Antonio Housing Authority and District 2 Council Woman Ivy Taylor and other groups talked about a separate $30 million choice grant that could also improve east side development and what that means for that side of town.
