   SAHA HOSTS NATION’S PREMIER HOUSING AMERICA EVENT
The San Antonio Housing Authority (SAHA) and the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO) partnered to celebrate, on Saturday, October 1, the kick-off of NAHRO’s Housing America Month 2011, which aims to educate decision makers and the general public about the essential role affordable housing and community development programs play in serving the nation’s most vulnerable.

After an overwhelming response from our residents in support of a non-smoking policy, SAHA will implement non-smoking policies at all communities beginning January 2012.

Physical activity and good nutrition significantly improve health outcomes, which result in a better quality of life - one of SAHA’s top priorities.

   SAHA ADDRESSES CONCERNS AT ALAZÁN
Our staff has been working diligently for several weeks now to address some pest control concerns at Alazan-Apache Courts.

   SAHA HONORED WITH 17 NATIONAL HOUSING AWARDS
SAHA recently received 17 Awards of Merit for housing and community development programs from the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO) in Louisville, KY.

   WEATHERIZATION EFFORTS KEEP FAMILIES HEALTHIER
SAHA partnered with CPS Energy and the City of San Antonio, on a Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) to help low-income Texans, particularly the elderly and persons with special needs, control energy costs while ensuring a healthy living environment.

  INVESTING IN THE YOUTH
Twenty-three SAHA youth residents, including the valedictorians from Holmes and Churchill high schools, were rewarded for their educational achievements with $1,500 scholarships at the 11th Annual Rising Stars banquet, held in August.
