Margaret Flores is the first impression most people get of the San Antonio Housing Authority. Sitting behind her desk in the middle of the front lobby, Margaret greets every visitor, delivery person, job applicant and resident with a bright smile and happy eyes.
SAHA is a change of pace for Margaret. As a young girl in the ninth grade, Margaret worked at Christus Santa Rosa hospital under a program run by local nuns. The experience led her on a career path she hadn’t expected.
For the next 35 years, she worked in hospitals, doctors’ offices, medical centers and other medical organizations until she retired from Baptist Hospital a few years ago. Along the way, she met her husband and the couple had a daughter. The Flores’ have been married 34 years and Margaret’s daughter is a teacher in San Marcos.
After a break to take care of ailing family, Margaret rejoined the workforce by working for SAHA.
The best thing about her job?
“I get to meet so many different people and help in so many ways,” she said.
Thank you, Margaret, for joining the SAHA Team.
