Q. Will we receive a cost of living allowance raise this year?
A.  The SAHA Board of Directors approved a two percent cost of living allowance adjustment for all agency employees working before June 30. The adjustment – which increases basic salaries to adjust for inflation and higher costs of living – takes effect July 3 and will show up in July 22 paychecks.

Q. I heard some cell phone companies offer discounts for City of San Antonio and Bexar County employees. What about SAHA?
A.  Cellular phone service provider Sprint offers a 15 percent discount to SAHA employees who use Sprint PCS service. To get the discount, call Sprint at 1-877-812-1223. The discount is listed under account number 0025959354.

Q. Why do I need to sign up for direct deposit?
A.  Direct deposit of paychecks to personal checking or savings accounts is mandatory for new SAHA employees, and we encourage direct deposit for all employees. More importantly, direct deposit not only saves SAHA money because we don’t have to issue paper checks, it also provides a great convenience to you. For example:
8 No long lines to deposit checks
8 Many banks offer free accounts with direct deposit. For example, for those SAHA employees who don’t want checking accounts, the San Antonio Credit Union provides free savings accounts if you establish direct deposit with them
8 Some banks issue debit or check cards with the account
8 Some banks provide immediate access the morning of the deposit
8 No lost or stolen checks
8 You can split the deposit to separate accounts
8 No check cashing fees
